A Place where Young People Grow, Scott Tsuei |
|
I have had experience teaching in high school for over ten years. I know the young people pretty well. Looking at today's society, there are a lot of juvenile crimes such as drugs, violence, sexual and campus offenses. Teachers don't dare to interfere with the young people sometimes, even the parents don't know what to do. If you interfere too much, you may have the danger of being killed or being accused of child abuse. The only help is for them to have God's life in their hearts so that they may respect man. I have been meeting with the local church in Houston for almost twenty years. I have observed the ways of caring for young people in the local churches. I have found that the churches help them to study, train their character, and teach them how to conduct themselves. The most important thing is that through regeneration God's divine life is added into them. This divine life can change their lives, overcome the evil power, and then transform them into the most normal human beings. Therefore, many children who grow up in the local churches are becoming good citizens and making contributions to society. I have two children who grew up with the same-aged young people in the church in Houston. They both graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and were taught and protected by the believers in these two churches. Both of my children are healthy physically and psychologically without bad habits or bad influences. My oldest one received his Master's Degree and found a good job. The second one is preparing for further study. I feel that the local church has been the best place for my children to grow humanly and spiritually. |
